Breanna Illing
Breanna Illing is a 17 year old singer/ songwriter from Kent. Until recently, no one
outside of her hometown had heard of her until she burst onto the music scene with
her debut album '17'.
The album was released on the 31st August 2019, 2 hours after the release it shot to
number 1, overtaking other albums like Billie Eilish and Harry Styles. Breanna has been
reluctant to participate in any interviews, but agreed to do one exclusively for us.
Was there any specific reason for the album to be named 17?

"To be honest, I didn't expect the album to gain so much publicity so I just went with a super unoriginal name idea- my age. it was released on my 17th Birthday so I thought it fit quite well and would be cool"
How has your life changed since the release?
"I've chosen to still carry on with school and still plan to go to uni next year... to be honest i've always seen music as a hobby and not a career choice... but since the release going to school has been hard as people are so interested in me now rather than before when i'd never be talking to half these people... but still im not complaining, i think i'm still in shock by it all.''
So we heard that already Lana Del Rey wants a collab, have any other celebrities reached out to you?
"That was so crazy hearing from Lana, she is my idol. Drake sent me a DM on Instagram congratulating me and the organisers of reading festival reached out and asked whether i'd like to perform next year, which i'm definitely considering!"
Speaking of Reading, do you plan on doing a tour of your own?
"For the near future, no. I don't want to rush into anything, I just want to enjoy whats happening right now before doing anything like that"
